Call for Heating Oil Price Checker
Heating oil customers in Scotland often face higher prices, fewer suppliers and less price transparency than consumers elsewhere in the UK.
The Competition and Markets Authority has suggested that Scotland establish a heating oil price checker, based on the system operating in Northern Ireland.
I have asked the Scottish Government whether it will introduce such a service to help households compare prices and make informed choices.
I am Pleased with the response that “Scottish Government is actively considering the recommendations made by the Competition and Markets Authority in its report on the home heating oil market. We are also working with UK and other devolved governments, along with regulators and industry stakeholders, to explore the feasibility and potential value of a Scottish heating oil price checker tool.”
