Future Farming in Linlithgow

Martyn Day attended a Quality Meat Scotland visit to Gilmeadowland Farm, Linlithgow, hosted by James Hamilton, winner of the Future Farming Award at the Scottish Agricultural Awards. The tour showcased a forward-looking mixed enterprise with over 400 years of family stewardship, highlighting high animal-welfare standards, careful soil and grassland management, and data-driven decision-making.

Contributions from SAYFC underscored the importance of young people and emerging leaders. Martyn Day reaffirmed his support for farm innovation, fair returns for producers, stronger local supply chains, and clear skills pathways—recognising the red meat sector’s vital contribution to Scotland’s health, wealth, and environment.
