SNP’s Scottish Child Payment making a real difference

New figures show that, as of September, 322,230 children right across Scotland are benefiting from this game-changing, Scotland-only payment – including thousands of children here in Falkirk and West Lothian.

Launched by the SNP Scottish Government in 2021 and doubled to £26.70 per week per child under John Swinney, the Scottish Child Payment is putting money directly into families’ pockets to help with the cost of raising children at a time when Westminster cuts are hitting hard.

Thanks to this and other SNP measures like the Baby Box and Best Start Grants, Scotland is the only part of the UK where child poverty is falling.

“Every week this payment is helping thousands of local children and families in our communities put food on the table, heat the home, and give their kids the best possible start.

“While Keir Starmer’s Labour government caps benefits and cuts winter fuel payments, the SNP is taking bold action to tackle poverty head-on – because under John Swinney’s leadership, ending child poverty remains our number one priority.

“This is what a fairer Scotland looks like – and with independence we can go even further.”
