Kicking off a new week with a visit to Bo’Ness High Street!

From Established Favourites to Exciting New Ventures in Bo’ness

It was great to be out and about in Bo’ness this morning, meeting local business owners and hearing first-hand about the opportunities and challenges facing our high streets.

My first stop was Thomas Burns Butchers, a fourth-generation family-run business that has been serving the local community for more than 50 years. It was a pleasure to meet some of the team and learn more about how the business continues to evolve, modernising its product range and adapting to changing customer expectations while maintaining the high standards and quality service that have earned it such a strong reputation over the decades.

I also had the opportunity to visit the neighbouring premises that will soon be home to Market Street Larder, Coffee ‘n’ Stuff and Bushel Hampers. With just a few weeks to go before opening, it was encouraging to see the progress being made. The new venture will offer great coffee, locally sourced products, gift hampers and a welcoming space for people to relax, meet friends and support local producers.

Seeing investment like this in the heart of Bo’ness is incredibly positive. Independent businesses play a vital role in our communities, creating jobs, attracting visitors and helping to maintain vibrant town centres. The commitment being shown by local entrepreneurs demonstrates real confidence in the future of our high street.

I am passionate about supporting local businesses and ensuring they have the conditions they need to thrive. Strong local economies are built by people willing to invest their time, energy and resources into their communities, and it is always inspiring to hear from those doing exactly that.

I would like to thank everyone who took the time to speak with me during my visits today, and I look forward to seeing these businesses continue to grow and succeed in the months and years ahead.
