Short Changed

Barely a year after the General Election its pretty clear from the doorsteps of Falkirk East and Linlithgow that nobody who voted Labour last year was voting for a continuation of Tory policies. Real change will only come with independence.

As the economy stumbles from one chaotic UK government to the next, the question we should be asking ourselves in Scotland is whether we can afford to stay stuck in broke Britain.

Instead of support from so-called broad shoulders, Scottish households continue to be short changed — with high energy bills, soaring food costs, and stagnant growth under a Labour Government whose economic record is already looking every bit as bleak as the toxic Tories they replaced.

As the Labour Party gears up for yet another brutal Westminster budget, it’s worth remembering: they’ve chosen these fiscal rules, chosen to accept the damage of Brexit, chosen to reject a fairer tax system — and chosen to block Scotland’s right to choose a better future.

Scotland deserves better — and only with independence can we build a fairer, more prosperous country that puts our people first.
