The Scottish Government’s recently published paper, ‘A Fresh Start with Independence’, sets out a clear, positive vision for Scotland’s future.
Scotland’s future should be decided by the people and communities across our country. Too many households here have been hit by stagnant living standards under Westminster’s failed economics, years of austerity, and the ongoing damage of Brexit. Governments in London treat Scotland as an afterthought.
Despite the constraints of devolution, the SNP in government has worked to deliver for families—expanding early learning and childcare, creating the Scottish Child Payment, and protecting public services wherever we can. But with the full powers of an independent nation, we can go further and faster.
‘A Fresh Start with Independence’ sets out how Scotland can:
- grow a stronger, fairer economy that lifts incomes,
- invest in world-class public services,
- manage migration to meet our needs,
- harness our energy potential, and
- play our part in defence and security—back in the EU as an equal partner.
When decisions are taken here, Scotland does better. With independence, we can realise our full potential and give the next generation a fairer start. That is the fresh start our communities deserve—and it’s Scotland’s right to decide.
