Public services do not pay for themselves. If we want a strong NHS, properly funded schools, decent local services and support for those who need it most, then we have to be honest about how they are paid for. That means a fair tax system where those with the broadest shoulders contribute more.

Even with the limited powers of devolution, SNP tax choices are raising substantial revenue and allowing greater investment in Scotland’s public services. With the full fiscal powers of independence, we could go further and build a fairer country.
