Why Scotland Needs to Control Its Own Future

With the UK Government’s Autumn Budget set for 26 November, people here in Falkirk East & Linlithgow are rightly asking: what does this mean for us?

Chancellor Rachel Reeves will outline plans to balance public finances while attempting to boost growth. Economists are warning that tax rises or spending cuts are almost inevitable. But while Westminster speculates about the effects on the wider UK economy, ordinary Scots face real uncertainty over the services we rely on every day – our schools, our hospitals, our local councils.

We can only speculate as to whether the delayed date of the budget is because Labour doesn’t know how to fix the mess they have created, or if it is in hope of burying bad news coverage while the publicattention turns towards Christmas.

In Scotland, the SNP Government is already showing what we can do when decisions are made locally. Our focus remains on protecting public services, supporting families, tackling the cost of living, and investing in the future of our communities.
