WASPI Women Betrayed by Labour

More than 3.5 million women were failed by the DWP when they were not properly informed about changes to their state pension age. The Parliamentary Ombudsman was clear: this was maladministration, and compensation of between £1,000 and £2,950 should be paid.

Yet in the House of Commons, Pat McFadden has now confirmed that the Labour Government will press ahead with refusing that compensation.

This is the same Labour Party whose senior figures — Keir Starmer, Angela Rayner, Anas Sarwar, Ian Murray — were unequivocal in opposition that WASPI women deserved justice.

They said one thing to win votes. They are doing the opposite in government.

Figures previously revealed show that more than 4,000 WASPI women in Scotland have died since the end of 2020. That is more than two women every single day dying without seeing a penny of the justice they were promised.

WASPI women deserved honesty. They deserved action. They deserved compensation.

Instead, they have been lied to.

The SNP will continue to stand by these women and will keep holding Westminster to account until they receive the fair and fast compensation they are owed.
