UK Government Must Act Now on Palestine
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is worsening by the day. More than 63,000 people have died from bullets, bombs, and starvation. Families are trapped in nightmarish conditions, forced to choose between risking death by starvation or risking death by gunfire.
The SNP is clear: enough is enough. Westminster cannot continue to look the other way.
The UK Government must:
- Support an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
- End arms sales to Israel – Britain must not be complicit in the killing of innocent civilians.
- Recognise the state of Palestine unconditionally – not as a bargaining chip, but as a principle of peace.
- Apply sanctions if Israel continues to block essential humanitarian aid.
Scotland has already acted. The SNP Scottish Government has contributed £1.3 million in humanitarian funding since the start of the conflict. But real progress requires the UK Government to step up and do the right thing.
Recognition of a Palestinian state should be irreversible. It must not depend on the approval of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government – a government that has inflicted unimaginable suffering on the people of Gaza.
The real question is: how much more suffering must Palestinians endure before Westminster acts?
