SNP Demand Recall of Parliament to Sanction Netanyahu for Ongoing Genocide Plan in Gaza

The SNP has demanded that Keir Starmer recall the Westminster Parliament to finally sanction the Israeli Government and use every diplomatic means possible to stop Benjamin Netanyahu’s ongoing genocide plan in the Gaza Strip.

The call comes as Israel’s security cabinet has approved an operation to take military control of Gaza City and agreed to a full military takeover of Gaza.

SNP Westminster Leader Stephen Flynn MP has warned that strong actions, not just words, are desperately needed – otherwise the UK is “consciously and complicitly standing idly by – allowing Benjamin Netanyahu to plan, implement and inflict an ongoing genocide in Gaza.”

In a letter to the Prime Minister, Mr Flynn has called for Parliament to be recalled to take real action, including:
Immediately recognising the state of Palestine before it is brutally wiped off the map.
Stopping all UK arms sales to Israel.
Directly sanctioning Benjamin Netanyahu and his ministers.
Ending all training, logistical and military support for the IDF.

Stephen Flynn MP said:
“A genocide is happening before our eyes in Gaza. Words of condemnation aren’t anywhere near enough – if we have any hope of stopping this genocide, strong actions are desperately needed now.
“That means Keir Starmer must recall Westminster and take concrete steps to sanction the Israeli Government.
“Those sanctions must include ending all arms sales to the Israeli military, stopping all training, logistical and military support to the IDF, directly and personally sanctioning Netanyahu and his ministers, and immediately recognising the state of Palestine before it is brutally wiped off the map.
“If the international community fails to act, we are consciously and complicitly standing idly by – allowing Benjamin Netanyahu to plan, implement and inflict an ongoing genocide in Gaza.
“The UK is not powerless here – it remains a key partner of the Israeli Government and has been shamefully slow in even speaking out against the bombing and starvation of the civilian population of Palestine. It’s time for that to change – and it’s time for Keir Starmer to act.”

The SNP continues to press for an immediate ceasefire, humanitarian aid for Gaza, and full recognition of Palestine as an independent state.
