SNP has delivered a budget “with our NHS and the cost-of-living crisis at its core”.
Momentum is gathering behind John Swinney’s strong leadership and the budget passed this week demonstrates only the SNP is on Scotland’s side – on 7th May, vote SNP to ensure a government focussed on our NHS, the cost-of-living crisis and offering people hope through a fresh start with independence.
Passed by MSPs on Wednesday, the SNP budget delivers record investment in Scotland’s NHS and an expansion of the best cost-of-living support available on these islands, including:
- Record NHS funding of £17.6bn, with an additional £2.4bn for primary care including £36m for new walk-in GP
- Removal of peak rail fares and a rail fare freeze
- Most Scots paying less tax than they would elsewhere on these islands
- An increase in the Scottish Child Payment to £40 per week for eligible children under one
- New funding which will allow every primary school pupil in Scotland access to a breakfast club by August 2027
- Free swimming lessons for every primary school pupil as part of an additional £40m investment in Scotland’s “Summer of Sport”
- Provision of free personal care, free university tuition, free bus travel for 2.4m people, free prescriptions, free eyes tests
- 1,140 hours of free, high-quality early learning and childcare, worth around £6,000 to families
- Record investment of £926 million in affordable housing
It follows a landmark poll which showed the SNP on course for a majority with Anas Sarwar’s Labour Party trailing in third place on just 15 seats.
While John Swinney delivers for Scotland, Anas Sarwar sat on the side lines without putting forward a single idea – the contrast could not be clearer and it won’t be lost on Scottish voters who see a broken Westminster system mired in chaos and scandal.
