The lesson of the past decade is clear: Westminster simply doesn’t work for the people of Scotland—but self-government does. If Westminster remains in charge of the big decisions, things will only get worse. A more hopeful future is possible when those decisions are made here in Scotland, by the people who live here and care most about our communities.

That is what independence offers: Scotland’s future in Scotland’s hands—so we can make the best choices for our economy, our public services, and our natural resources. This is the real choice at the election in May: to build beyond a broken Westminster system, and to choose a fairer, wealthier, independent future for all our people.

Our objective is crystal clear: win an indisputable mandate to take Scotland forward to independence. After this conference, I’m more confident than ever that we can—and will—deliver it.
