Scotland’s Jobs Success Shines Through Westminster Chaos

Martyn Day, SNP candidate for Falkirk East and Linlithgow, has highlighted the stark contrast between governments as unemployment rises across the UK under Labour while continuing to fall in Scotland. The latest ONS figures show UK unemployment climbing to 5% between July and September, while Scotland’s rate has dropped to 3.7%.

He noted that the Scottish Government is working with business to attract jobs and investment, but stressed that most of the key economic levers remain in Westminster’s hands.

Commenting, Martyn Day said:

“Under Labour, the UK economy has gone from bad to worse — with unemployment rising, the cost of living still biting hard, public finances deteriorating and poverty hitting record levels.

“For families in Falkirk East and Linlithgow, it’s welcome news that unemployment in Scotland is falling and remains far lower than the UK rate.

“John Swinney’s SNP government is doing everything it can to protect Scotland from the damage caused by Westminster, but it’s clear we could achieve so much more with the full powers of independence.
