Scotland Doesn’t Need Nuclear—We Need Control

Westminster control has left Scottish households paying some of the highest energy prices in Europe while energy jobs drift south. Labour’s 2024 manifesto pledged £8.3 billion for GB Energy—officially headquartered in Aberdeen—yet the Chancellor’s June spending decisions effectively carved billions out of that plan, and redirected £2.5 billion to a new body focused on small modular nuclear reactors. Meanwhile, most GB Energy posts created so far have gone to England.

Scotland doesn’t need nuclear. We already have the clean generation we need to power a fairer future—what we need is the power to ensure decisions are made in Scotland’s interests. With Scotland in control of energy policy, we can back proven renewables, invest in grid and storage, secure skilled Scottish jobs, and stop households being forced to shoulder exorbitant bills for Westminster’s choices.

This is a straightforward choice: costly, centralised nuclear from Westminster—or affordable, home-grown clean energy led by Scotland. Vote SNP to keep Scotland’s energy in Scotland’s hands and build a fairer, wealthier, cleaner future.
