Growing Scotland’s Economy – Creating Jobs and Opportunities

The SNP Government has prioritised economic growth – building a stronger economy that works for everyone in Scotland. Despite Westminster’s economic mismanagement, the SNP is focused on creating well-paying jobs, supporting strong public services, and generating the resources needed to tackle child poverty.

Scotland’s economy is performing strongly. In 2024, Scotland outperformed the UK as a whole, recording significant growth. For the tenth year in a row, Scotland was the top UK destination for foreign direct investment outside London, with nearly one in six inward investment projects across the UK secured here.

Scotland is also leading in the transition to a greener future. PwC’s Green Jobs Barometer shows that Scotland has the highest proportion of green job adverts of all UK nations and regions, with the size of the green jobs market tripling since 2021.

Scottish businesses are also achieving record-breaking success. Scottish Enterprise has announced the highest-ever level of planned international sales – an unprecedented £2.46 billion in 2024/25, up 20% on the previous year. Its work also supported or safeguarded over 15,000 real living wage jobs, enabled £442 million in innovation investment, and backed £1.16 billion in business capital expenditure – the second highest on record.
