A Year of Polls Show Independence in the lead as we enter 2026

The SNP has said that Scotland is entering a ‘year of opportunity’ in 2026 as polls show that support for Scottish independence has strengthened in the last year.

SNP Depute Westminster Leader Pete Wishart MP commented,

“2026 can be a year of opportunity for Scotland as support for a fresh start with independence strengthens and grows.

“That is the opportunity that only the SNP can offer – by winning a majority this May we can unite our nation and break the cycle of institutional UK decline for Scotland.

“This year’s election is increasingly becoming a choice of two futures – independence with an SNP government, or heading down a very dark path under a Westminster dominated by Nigel Farage.”

Falkirk East and Linlithgow SNP Candidate added “Polling support for independence represents the reality that Britain is broken beyond repair. Westminster politicians wish to dismiss support for Scotland’s right to choose our own future – this year we can deliver a democratic pathway to an independent future.”
