321,375 children across Scotland are benefiting from the Scottish Child Payment – a clear sign of what can be achieved when we use the powers of our Parliament to put families first.

Since its launch five years ago, this Scotland-only support has delivered over £1.4 billion to families who need it most. That is practical help with food, clothing and the everyday costs of raising children – not warm words, but direct financial support.

The evidence speaks for itself. Independent analysis has shown that child poverty rates in Scotland are the lowest in the UK, driven by decisions taken by the SNP Scottish Government, including the Scottish Child Payment. While others talk, Scotland has acted.

And we are not standing still. Plans are already in place to increase the payment to £40 per week for children under one, alongside further action to support families through measures such as free Breakfast Clubs.

The contrast with Westminster could not be clearer. While families continue to feel pressure from rising living costs, Scotland is choosing a different path – one rooted in fairness, compassion and ambition.

There is more to do, but this is proof that with the right priorities, progress is possible.
